A few months ago Roman called and asked if I was still on the job market. My response was affirmative. Initially, I thought he had a specific position for me, but to my surprise he did not offer me a job. What he did offer was much more than another temporary employment…
He offered his help to achieve my career goals. I agreed.
Although the “Best Practices Seminars” presented by IT Careers are oriented towards BA’s and PMs, and I am software engineer by trade, I have found each session extremely useful in multiple aspects especially in how to self-market my skills and core capabilities.
After attending just few sessions with Roman and Steven and modifying my resume and professional profile according to my new career goals I received a lead on a very lucrative position at one of the major hedge funds. To land the job, I had to go through the very rigorous in-person interview process with various technology experts and multiple layers of managers. During each interview I felt confident in my answers and I communicated in a much more coherent and professional manner. I am pretty sure that communication skills and practice I received from the IT Careers team played a significant role in my recent success.
