After a five-year career as a Business Analyst and attempts at project management, I felt that a career in Project Management is the one for me. I became a Member of IT Careers in May of 2014 because they specialize exactly in this area.
I was a bit skeptical since I have never heard of career mentoring services tailored for IT professionals. However, after meeting Roman in-person and going over the Coaching Program in detail, I was very impressed. I was also impressed with Roman’s background, 15 years working as a BA / PM for the largest companies on Wall Street. His vast knowledge of the SDLC methodologies in all aspects of project delivery from business case to the production roll out, professionalism and ability to explain in simple terms are the key to the success of IT Careers of NY program.
The program included: boutique one-on-one mentoring sessions, resume construction to reflect my career path and building my social profile. Most impressive was their focus on improving my self-marketing and interviewing skills. As part of the program, I participated in the “Best Practices” group seminars at their Center of Excellence, where all Members have a chance to practice their presentations. IT Careers of NY arranged mock interviews with real hiring managers to get their honest feedback on my interviewing skills and knowledge. These sessions really helped me to focus on my strengths and improved response to my resume and results on the in-person interviews. After completing the 5 week program I was ready to start looking for PM engagements with confidence and a positive attitude. I had a preparatory session before each scheduled interview.
Using techniques and knowledge I gained at IT Careers of NY, I really stood out on interviews from other candidates and I received 3 job offers shortly. I doubt that I would get any job offers or have any success in achieving my career goals without IT Careers unique approach and proprietary program.
